Lace front wigs are great when it comes to achieving a natural-looking hairstyle. But the visibility of knots on the lace can sometimes give away the secret. While bleaching the knots is a common solution, it’s not always the best option, especially if you’re concerned about damaging your wig. In this post, I’m going to show you guys how to hide the grid line on your wig.
- Use Concealer or Foundation
If you guys are new to wigs, you’re like what are wig knots? When you’re looking at a lace front wig, you can literally see the little lines in the wig. They are visible and will make the hairline or parting line look fake. So what we’re going to do is to hide those knots to make the wig look more realistic like your own scalp. One of the methods is to use some concealer or foundation. How you’re gonna conceal this is you are just gonna go up there, and add some powder and cover those up. They make actual knotting products that are specially designed to cover up knots. But you can start with the simplest makeup foundations. This saves you from investing in bunches of products.
Use a makeup brush or sponge, simply apply a small amount of concealer or foundation directly to the lace where the knots are visible. Remember to use concealer that matches your skin tone. This helps to blend the knots with your scalp, making them less noticeable. For the best results, use a flat makeup brush to dab the product onto the lace. This will ensure an even application.
- Try a Wig Knots Healer
When you use a wig knots healer, it is also important to choose the right shade to match your skin tone. First, have your wig securely positioned on a wig stand or mannequin head. Apply the product from the underside of the lace, focusing on the areas where the knots are most prominent. After that, give the wig a few minutes to dry completely. Avoid touching the lace during this time to prevent smudging the product. This method is quick, easy, and won’t damage your wig.
- Use a Lace Grid Filler
These kind of products are similar to wig knots healer. But they’re like a waxy finish so they don’t come off on the skin very easily. So in order for us to apply it onto our lace, we actually have to heat it up. You can use hot water, or go in with a blow dryer to make the process a lot faster. When the lace grid filler is heated up, turn your wig inside out. Put it on a mannequin head, and apply the filler just in the area you want to hide knots. Don’t overdo it because a little goes a long way. Start off at maybe like an inch or two away from the hairline. Remove the wig from the mannequin head so you can see how it’s looking. Repeat the process until it looks just in the way you like. Lace grid fillers are sweat and water resistance, so it can last up to 1-4 weeks. You don’t have to worry about it coming off very easily. This is also good for covering damaged lace and covering any kind of stains on your lace.
- Tweeze the Hairline
If your lace wig has a thick and dense hairline, it might not look as natural as you’d like. One simple way is by tweezing some of the hairs along the hairline. This can help make the knots less noticeable. Carefully pluck individual hairs along the hairline. Focus on thinning out the area where the hair is the thickest. Don’t rush the process. Over-plucking can lead to bald spots or an uneven hairline, which might make your wig look less natural instead of more. Just pluck a few strands to create a more gradual and less dense look. And after plucking ,the knots of the hairline will look less visible.
- Use Wig Knot Healer Spray or Hair Root Touch-Up Spray
Hair root touch-up sprays are typically used to cover gray roots, but they can also be used to conceal knots on a lace wig. Both of the sprays are easy to apply. Similar to the wig knots healer, you need to turn the wig inside out, and apply the spray on the lace. Focus on the areas where the knots are most prominent.
